About
Pyrros Marmatakis was born in Athens, 13/7/1998.
He took his Greek National Piano diploma at the age of 16 with the highest possible grade with prof. George Manessis.
Afterward, he continued his studies with prof. Dimitris Toufexis and prof. Christine Tokatlian in Deree, The American College of Greece in the BA, Honours in Music Performance as the recipient of the Frances Rich merit music scholarship.
He graduated in June 2021 winning the Artistic Achievement and Outstanding Graduating Student awards. He now studies at the University of Chichester, Wessex, Ph.D. in Music with Dr. Laura Ritchie.
He has been awarded in the following competitions:
- 2021 Constellation: Power of Music international contest, composition, piano duo, 1st prize, V age category (19-25 years old);
- 2021 International Moscow Music Competition (IMMC), piano duo, 2nd prize;
- 2021 Franz Liszt Center International Piano Competition, Spain, 3rd prize category C (age 22 and above);
- 2021 DONAUWELLE International Music Competition, 1st prize last age category;
- 2021 International Mozart Piano Competition 3rd prize last age category;
- 2020 International Moscow Music Competition (IMMC), 1st prize piano, age category from 22 to 25 years old;
- 2020 5th UNESCO Panhellenic Music Competition, 2nd prize, age category from 18 to 28 years old;
- 2020 Serbia International Piano Competition, 1st prize, Category XXII 20 to 23 years old;
- 2020 Muse International Music Competition, Greece, 3rd prize, category E, 18 years old and above;
- 2019 Classic Music Box, Μάγδας Μαυρογιάννη and Young Talents Competition: ‘Beethoven’s DNA’ B&M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts, 1st prize.
